Record Python Found In Florida

Seventeen and a half feet long. Carrying 87 eggs. Major creep factor.
Florida has a new attractiona 17.7-foot-long (5.4-meter-long) Burmese python, the biggest snake of that species ever found in the southeastern U.S. state, scientists say.

What's more, a necropsy on the euthanized python revealed she was carrying 87 eggsalso a state record for the species, a University of Florida team announced Monday.

Captured in Everglades National Park, the "monstrous" constrictor will eventually be displayed at the Florida Museum of Natural History, according to the university.

The Everglades is home to a growing population of the invasive Asian pythons, many of which originate from snakes that either escaped into or were dumped into the wild in the 1990s. (See Everglades pictures.)

Sometimes adopted as a pet, the Burmese python is one of nine species of constrictor snakes—and about a million individual constrictors—that have been imported into the United States over the past 30 years, according to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
Kind of reminds me of a song from my youth.
Oh, I'm being eaten
By a boa constrictor,
A boa constrictor,
A boa constrictor,
I'm being eaten by a boa constrictor,
And I don't like it--one bit.
Well, what do you know?
It's nibblin' my toe.
Oh, gee,
It's up to my knee.
Oh my,
It's up to my thigh.
Oh, fiddle,
It's up to my middle.
Oh, heck,
It's up to my neck.
Oh, dread,
It's upmmmmmmmmmmffffffffff . . .
