Barack Obama: Kenyan Prince

Barack Obama seems to have lived in a fantasy world of his own creation for most of his earlier life. In high school, he told his classmates that he was a "Kenyan prince."
I think part of the reason that he came up with being an Indonesian prince or a Kenyan prince to his fifth-grade class was sort of that sense of OK, I feel a little different, so I'd better be something a little fancier, because it was a fancy school. So while not everyone there was wealthy, and not everyone there was Caucasian, despite the reputation, there were a lot of wealthy people at the school. I mean, in high school, an awful lot of kids had their own cars, which I didn't. I'm pretty sure Barry didn't.
This is consistent with a pattern that persisted well into his life. Until it was purged in 2007, the biography that Obama supplied to his literary agent claimed that he had been born in Kenya.
Archive.org shows that the Dystel website used the following biography for Obama as of April 3, 2007:

BARACK OBAMA is the junior Democratic senator from Illinois and was the dynamic keynote speaker at the 2004 Democratic National Convention. He was also the first African-American president of the Harvard Law Review. He was born in Kenya to an American anthropologist and a Kenyan finance minister and was raised in Indonesia, Hawaii, and Chicago. His first book, DREAMS FROM MY FATHER: A STORY OF RACE AND INHERITANCE, has been a long time New York Times bestseller.

Obama launched his presidential campaign in February 2007.

By April 21, 2007, the Obama bio had been changed to state that Obama was born in Hawaii:
And there are those rumors that Obama got into Occidental College and Columbia in spite of a less than stellar academic record in high school by claiming that he was a foreign student.
Perhaps he would have been an amazing student (If he hadn't been so obsessed with smoking marijuana). If you look at our high school program, the senior year graduation program, commencement, it has everybody's names, and it has -- you have an asterisk or a little plus next to you if you graduated with honors, or if you got the President's Award, and Barry doesn't have either one. And that's not a bad thing. Everybody was smart. Everybody was capable. It is a little amusing in hindsight that he didn't get the President's Award, since he's the president. But that was an award that you were nominated [for] by your classmates and ultimately picked by your teachers, so you sort of had to be something extra.
Of course, Obama could clear this up if he would simply release his academic records
Obama is going to great lengths to prevent the release of his records from a school that no one remembers him attending (which means he either completely lied about graduating there or failed a lot of classes, which would prevent him from getting financial aid) and that he had no means of paying for at the time.
Root adds:
If you could unseal Obama’s Columbia University records I believe you’d find that:
A) He rarely ever attended class.
B) His grades were not those typical of what we understand it takes to get into Harvard Law School.
C) He attended Columbia as a foreign exchange student.
D) He paid little for either undergraduate college or Harvard Law School because of foreign aid and scholarships given to a poor foreign students like this kid Barry Soetoro from Indonesia.
Root suspects that Obama's mother never changed his citizenship back when they returned to the U.S., that the records Obama is so fiercely guarding reveal this beyond question, and that this is the reason Obama cannot allow this conversation to take place...hence all the relentless smearing of Romney as having something to hide in his background.
