Earth to Nicholas Kristof

To hell with experts. Nicholas Kristof has learned all he needs to know about North Korea by interviewing "ordinary workers and farmers."

Based upon his interviews, Kristoff has concluded that the Bush Administration's faith that North Korea will collapse without us firing a shot are unfounded.

But, Kristof is very good at fanciful thinking. Consider this line from his column: "President Bill Clinton's approach was to bargain with North Korea, and that achieved a freeze on plutonium programs "
He achieved no such thing. He received a promise from the North Korean that they would freeze their program and Clinton declined to insist upon verification. That's why we're in the spot we're in now.

Naturally, Kristoff offers no solutions. He only blames Bush and the war in Iraq.
