Are You Better Off Than You Were Four Years Ago?
There had to be a reason why John Kerry dropped asking this question. It was a question Ronald Reagan tormented Jimmy Carter with in 1980. Democrats and their press allies thought that it would be justice if Kerry were to ask Americans the same question. Maybe this is why they gave up on that strategy.
Americans are optimistic, "very satisfied with life" and have confidence in their public institutions, especially the U.S. armed forces and law-enforcement agencies, two new polls show.
Fifty-six percent of Americans say their personal situation has improved over the last five years, up seven points since last year, and 68 percent expect their personal situation to improve over the next five years, up five points from 2003, a Harris poll released yesterday found.
Most telling, traditional "victim" are even more optimistic about their future than are people of pallor.
Whites were the least optimistic about the future, with 62 percent saying their lives would improve in five years. The figure was 86 percent for both blacks and Hispanics.
The press and the Democrats have been pounding the drum incessantly that we're in a severe economic slump. Why haven't people been listening?
Perhaps it's because on 30% have faith in the mainstream media.
