You're Not Good Enough For Democracy

At last the veil is discarded. The New York Times doesn't think that you should have a say in your own governance.

In an excessively (even for the Times) elitist editorial, the Times comes out against initiatives and referenda, in which the voters themselves cast votes that direct government.

No more of that "government of the people by the people and for the people" for the Times. We're not up to it.

Of course, the might Times does propose that Americans prove that they are indeed worthy of self government - by elevating the status of homosexuals. That's the Time's standard.
