Are Reporters Supposed to do This?

Are Reporters Supposed to do This?
"New York Times reporter Judith Miller played a highly unusual role in an Army unit assigned to search for dangerous Iraqi weapons, according to U.S. military officials, prompting criticism that the unit was turned into what one official called a "rogue operation."

When the United States Army wanted to withdraw the unit Judith Miller was embedded with, she threatened to write harshly critical articles in the New York Times. Of course, the New York Times, being the impartial and unbiased observer and reporter of the news that it is, would never have published vindictive pieces, but it tells us something about the attitude of another of its reporters.

After all, newspapers aren't supposed to affect the news, just report it, right?
