Who Can Rescue the Democrats?

Who Can Rescue the Democrats?

David Brooks points out what many of us have known for a long time. The Democrats are an elitist party. And the voters they rely upon are tired of being condescended to.

According to Democrat pollster, Mark Penn, "In terms of the percentage of voters who identify themselves as Democrats, the Democratic Party is currently in its weakest position since the dawn of the New Deal."

It's hard to see any turnaround soon. Only 32% of Americans identify themselves as Democrats. 25% of them favor John Dean for the Democratic nomination. That 25% represents the far left anti-American elite. But, that 25% is enough to make John Dean the front runner, so the other candidates are trying to mimic John Dean's message. So, the Democrats who are trying to win the presidency are competing for the affections of just 8% of the electorate. ( one-quarter of 32%).
