Memorializing Mass Murderers

These are the people John Kerry believed we should subordinate our foreign policy to?

Several French municipalities governed by communist and left-wing majorities are considering naming a street or a square after Yasser Arafat.

Democrats In A Landslide

The ultimate coccooner, Frank Rich is convinced that Democrats won the argument, even though they lost the election.

"The blue ascendancy is nearly as strong among Republicans as it is among Democrats. Those whose "moral values" are invested in cultural heroes like the accused loofah fetishist Bill O'Reilly and the self-gratifying drug consumer Rush Limbaugh are surely joking when they turn apoplectic over MTV. William Bennett's name is now as synonymous with Las Vegas as silicone. The Democrats' Ashton Kutcher is trumped by the Republicans' Britney Spears. Excess and vulgarity, as always, enjoy a vast, bipartisan constituency, and in a democracy no political party will ever stamp them out."

True, there are incidences where champions of decency succumb to temptation (although I wouldn't count Bill O'Reilly as one of the good guys). But, as a great philosopher once said, "hypocrisy is the homage that vice pays to virtue." I lprefer somebody who at least tries to uphold morality and occasionally fails, to someone who champions immorality.

It's True, Firefox Rocks

A long time ago, my son introduced me to his favorite web browser, Mozilla Firefox. It tried it, and I liked it.

Rob Pegorano, of the Washington Post likes it too, and can explain it better than I can.

Off To El Salvador

I'll be leaving for a mission trip to El Salvador in a few hours and I suspect that blogging will be spotty at best. I understand that I'll have internet access there, but I may not have much time as I have a great deal to accomplish while I'm there.

I will try to post a diary though.

No One But The Choir Left To Preach To

Daniel Henninger identifies the real loser in last week's election - the mainstream media.

Authority can be a function of raw power, but among free people it is sustained by esteem and trust. Should esteem and trust falter, the public will start to contest an institution's authority. It happens all the time to political figures. It happened here to the American Catholic Church and to the legal profession, thanks to plaintiff-bar abuse. And now the public is beginning to contest the decades-old authority of the mainstream media.

Hitler's Child

For a while Wednesday afternoon, I couldn’t help recalling one of my favorite flicks, “The Princess Bride.” In that movie, Miracle Max was a wizard who had been hired to revive the hero Westley from what his friends believed was death.
‘Well, it just so happens that your friend here is only mostly dead,” Max corrected. “There's a big difference between mostly dead and all dead.” That line still brings a smile to my face.
For about a week, we were similarly teased about Yasser Arafat’s condition. "His kidneys and liver have shut down, but his heart and lungs are still functioning," said a Palestinian spokesman shortly before Yasser Arafat crossed into the category of “all dead.”
All in all, Miracle Max said it better. But thankfully, there was no magic pill to revive Arafat. And that brings an even bigger smile to my face.
The cultural divide between “red” and “blue” Americans could hardly have been clearer than in the reaction to the death of Yasser Arafat. Blue Americans were mourning the fat little terrorist’s passing, exalting him as a champion of the Palestinian people’s cause and a voice for the downtrodden everywhere.
I do not share wine and cheese with the elites of this country and could not be disinvited from their parties. I do not join their salons. And they don’t sit with me at Cougar Country for a burger either. There is no social risk for me when I say that I find it delightful that Yasser Arafat is no longer drawing breath alongside the good and decent in this world.
Perhaps there was no more disgusting tribute than that paid to the little terrorist by our nation’s worst ever president. “Yasser Arafat’s death marks the end of an era and will no doubt be painfully felt by Palestinians throughout the Middle East and elsewhere in the world,” Jimmy Carter said. “He was the father of the modern Palestinian nationalist movement. A powerful human symbol and forceful advocate, Palestinians united behind him in their pursuit of a homeland.”
Yeah, and Hitler was a powerful human symbol and the father of the German nationalist movement. Germans united behind him in their pursuit of national dignity. Did that forgive his crimes?
Carter overlooked Arafat’s greatest achievement, the murder of countless Jewish children and his deployment of Palestinian children as guided bombs. The world is a palpably better place without him.
Yasser Arafat wasn’t just a racist mass murderer. He was the world’s biggest crime boss as well. Estimates of his fortune range from as little as a billion dollars to as much as $10 billon, or more. This money was accumulated through a series of organized crime activities, including drug smuggling, and the embezzlement of foreign aid meant to assist those Palestinians whose future he supposedly championed.
If anyone wishes to know why liberals are losing ground with every election in this country, it is because Americans know who it is that pays this kind of homage to the world’s most notorious Jew-hater.
Elite opinion had no difficulty condemning the comparatively mild anti-Semitism of Richard Butler when he headed his Aryan Nations gang. But many of those same people never could bring themselves to hold the real inheritor of Hitler’s legacy responsible for his words and deeds.
It’s really quite remarkable how anti-Semitism has become socially acceptable again, in this country and abroad.
How can it be that this monster is a hero? What is heroic about engineering the slaughter of uncounted Jews? What is valorous about stealing from the very people whose cause he supposedly championed?
The sad truth remains that the same deep current of anti-Semitism that permitted Nazism to flourish in Europe still floods polite society. Pogroms and the Inquisition were only the most visible of a culture of hate that has for centuries blackened the souls of those who consider themselves enlightened. It is this deep social pathology that permitted an unapologetic neo-fascist to force a runoff with French president Jacques Chirac in France’s last presidential election. Hitler was not really a historical aberration, just a slight exaggeration. And it seems highly likely that modern Europeans were willing to outsource to Arafat accomplishing the goal that animated many generations of their ancestors. And they find allies in the liberal elites of this county.

Tin Foil Beany Democrats Won't Give Up

Expect to hear another four years of claims that Bush stole the election.

This should keep Michael Moore and Barbra Streisand busy for a while. And it can only help us in 2008 as the mentally competent see what sort of kooks compose the Democratic party.

A Glimmer Of Hope?

Dino Rossi's lead over Christine Gregoire for the governorship of Washington has stretched out to over 3000 votes.

Pray for Washington. I happen to know two people who are personally acquainted with Gregoire and both loathe her. And neither has any particular affection for the Republican party. One, in fact, had never voted for a Republican in her life until she had the chance to vote against Gregoire.

So Was Hitler

Not surprisingly, French President Jacques Chirac praised Yasser Arafat as "a man of courage and conviction."

"It is with emotion that I have just learnt of the death of President Yasser Arafat, the first elected president of the Palestinian Authority," Chirac said in a written statement on Thursday. "I offer my very sincere condolences to his family and to people close to him."

Well for once, the ver and I have something in common. I too learned of the fat Jew killer's death with emotion too. The difference is that my emotion was elation. I hope the pig burns in hell.

The Dutch Get A Clue

Guess what the Dutch just figured out? Radical Islam is a threat.

Speaking at the EU conference, [Netherlands Justic Minister Rita] Verdonk said the man suspected of killing [film maker Theo] van Gogh "was driven by the same dark forces" that were behind the September 11, 2001, attacks in the United States and the Madrid train bombings last year.

While You're There, Tell Adolf Hitler To Kiss My Ass

Yasser Arafat is now burning in hell.

Tell me Yasser, met any virgins down there yet?

Meanwhile, CNN has a memorial photo that's one hell of a lot nicer than the one they had for Ronald Reagan.

Jew killers are much more respectable among the leftist elite than they used to be. Fortunately, those of us on the right still loath them all.

Life Imitates Princess Bride

"Well, it just so happens that your friend here is only mostly dead. There's a big difference between mostly dead and all dead." So said Miracle Max of the lead character, Westley.

Compare that to this notation regarding Yasser Arafat: "His kidneys and liver have shut down but his heart and lungs are still functioning."

Now This Is Good

Many of our problems, economic and political, could be solved if we were less dependent upon foreign oil.

The first real step in that direction was just taken.

The new pump at the Shell station on Benning Road NE in the District doesn't look much different from the others, but it represents a new concept in automotive technology: hydrogen power.

The hydrogen-dispensing pump is the first installed at a public gas station in the country, according to officials from Shell Hydrogen and General Motors Corp., who will team up today to introduce it.

Liberals are naturally skeptical: "The major unanswered questions about hydrogen are not whether you can run a car on it. They are, how do you make it? What is it going to cost? And what is going to be the public investment in infrastructure?" said David Hamilton, director of global warming and energy programs at the Sierra Club. The Shell station on Benning Road NE is "devoid of economic reality. [Hydrogen power] doesn't exist in the real world except as a hugely subsidized example of something that the companies want you to see."

So even when they get exactly what they want, liberals still see it as a payoff to Halliburton.

There's Always Paris

Liberal grousing has rarely sounded more obnoxious than it has after this election. I guess there's some comfort in believing that an election was stolen. But to suffer so sound a beating really eats into the heart. And so, the fault lies not with liberalism, but with America itself. Americans are a bunch of bible thumping hayseeds.

Why don't you all take Alec Baldwin's advice and move to Europe? Anti-Christianity is woven all through Europeans. You Move On.org and ACT types would feel right at home.

Down Boy

Arlen Specter is right. Although he is on the wrong side of abortion, he has supported pro-life judges before. Those of us who were paying attention about 14 years ago recall how he went right to the mat for Clarence Thomas.

I pray that he'll change his heart on abortion, but I'll always be grateful for the good fight he fought then.

French Unilateral Military Action

The French attacked unarmed Ivory Coast citizens without first getting the approval of either the United Nations Security Council, Kofi Annan, or John Kerry. I guess the Ivory Coast needs to bribe more French politicians.

Life Imitates Saturday Night Live

Is Yasir Arafat still dead?

[A] source close to the French medical team treating him said: "Mr. Arafat is not dead."

"He is dead," one of the Palestinian sources said in Paris. Another official close to Arafat said: "Yes, he is dead. There will be an announcement soon."

I'm inclined to believe the Palestinians. When given a choice between believing the French and anyone else, I'll bet against the Frogs every time.

This all brings back memories of the life and death of the last fascist dictator with the nerve to wear the title, Generalissimo Francisco Franco. He lingered between here and eternity for what seemed like months, though I think it was probably only weeks. During the episode, the evening news broadcasts opened with the same news: "Generalissimo Fancisco Franco is still alive."

He cashed in during Saturday Night Live's first season. And once he died, SNL would insert this line into their fake news broadcast: "Generalissimo Francisco Franco is still dead."

Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha!

This is just too much!!!!!!!

Carville Has It All Figured Out

James Carville says that the Democrats need to remake themselves and need a simple message, just as the Republicans had.

He said Mr. Bush and Republicans presented just such a story: "These guys had a narrative — we're going to protect you from the terrorists in Tikrit and from the homos in Hollywood. That's it," he said.

From what I've heard of Democratic post-mortems, it's going to be a long period in the wilderness for the Democrats.

Democratic Bitches No More

Even the New York Times admits that divisive racial politics did not work for the Democrats with Hispanics this time. While Kerry focused on identity politics, Bush focused on issues that matter, abortion, morality, family. The result was that Bush won 44% of the Hispanic vote.

A reliable Democrat no longer, taken for granted no longer - and more electable than ever in their own right, with the first two Hispanic United States senators in 30 years poised to take office, from Colorado and Florida - a new swing voter may have emerged.

"The bottom line to me is that with this result, it's no longer sensible to think of Hispanic voters on a national basis as a core constituency of the Democratic Party," said Roberto Suro, the director of the Pew Hispanic Center, a nonpartisan research organization based in Washington.

"We are up for grabs," said F. Chris Garcia, a professor of political science at the University of New Mexico. "That is a good thing for Hispanics; we're going to be more influential in the future and a bigger target for both campaigns."

Get The Virgins Warm

Knowing that a massiva assault was imminent, Fallujah terrorists loyal to Abu Musab al-Zarqawi prepared themselves for martyrdom.

"A friend was injured in an attack," he said. "They took him to the hospital. When he opened his eyes he saw a beautiful woman. He cheered and thanked God that he had finally become a martyr and was granted one of the divine virgins.

"But then he realized that he was still alive and started crying."

Even More Bad News For Democrats

John Kerry and Michael Moore aren't going anywhere.

Democrat John F. Kerry plans to use his Senate seat and long lists of supporters to remain a major voice in American politics despite losing the presidential race last Tuesday, and he is assessing the feasibility of trying again in 2008, friends and aides said yesterday.

Now this is really a self-contradictory paragraph. John Kerry was nearly invisible during his 20 years in the Senate. He can either begin a new career of activism or he can resume his old habit of cautious anonymity.

And the narcissistic Michael Moore has no choice but to remain front and center of pop liberalism.

Intolerance Watch

In The Netherlands, it is now official policy that the words, "Thou Shalt Not Kill" constitute racism. After all, there is a religion of peace out there that feels fully justified in murdering its critics.

Invest in Therapy

Democrats are streaming into theiry therapists' offices seeking grief counseling over the lost election.

After the presidential election on Tuesday, [psychologist and anger specialist Steven Stosney] started receiving calls once again from livid Democrats, including a Kerry campaign staff member who said she was furious with George W. Bush, and was taking it out on her husband.

"These political families are collapsing at the finish line," said Dr. Stosny, the author of self-help books like "The Powerful Self." "They just can't take it anymore."

This article reveals where the true reservoir of hate in this country resides, infecting even the therapists themselves.

Peter Wolson, a psychoanalyst in Beverly Hills, Calif., said that several colleagues at a recent conference accused the Bush administration of being intolerant and fascistic while "they themselves were vilifying the Republican Party en masse."

"It was irrational black-and-white splitting," he said. "The good and bad guys. For the Democrats the `evildoers' became the Republicans."

But, if this is true, then liberals need more counseling than they imagine.

Paramount [Studio]'s "Alfie," a remake of a romantic comedy about a roguish womanizer starring Jude Law, opened to a dismal $6.5 million in more than 2,000 theaters, far below expectations. The tepid response was the latest blow to Sherry Lansing, the chairwoman of Paramount who last week announced her plans to leave the job when her contract expires in 2005, and whose movies have performed poorly this summer and fall.

Wayne Llewellyn, the president of distribution at Paramount, said that the conservative ethos reflected in last week's election results might have hurt the film.

"It could be the mood of the country right now," he said. "It seems to be the result of the election. Maybe they didn't want to see a guy that slept around."

Or it could be that the movie just stunk. John Kerry did get 55 million votes. If the movie were any good, a few of them would have bought tickets.

All Of The Above

When Democrats win elections, the press simply moves on. Does anybody remember any post-mortems f Republican campaigns after either of Clinton's victories. The press still hadn't let go of Al Gore's loss and now they're dissecting John Kerry's flop.

From every corner of the media empire, the explanations come fast and furious:

The Democrats were clueless on moral values. John Kerry was a lousy candidate. A northerner can't win anymore. The Bush team was better at manipulating the press. No one trusts the Democrats on national security. The gay marriage issue badly hurt the party. The Democrats need to move right, or left, or south, or undergo a personality transplant, or change the Constitution so Bill Clinton can run again.

But if 70,000 votes had shifted in Ohio, wouldn't journalists be floating similar theories about President Bush and the Republicans?

Part of it is that most journalists are Democrats and want to give the advice that will win the next election. But there's also a bit of laziness involved.

"We love doing the death of the parties and the death of great movements," says Roger Simon of U.S. News & World Report. "It's just a good, sexy story to say, 'Are the Democrats through?' If we didn't write about process, my God, we'd have to start writing about policy."

But of course, much of it has to do with policy. Democrat policies depart from the American mainstream.

But Jonah Goldberg also sees post election commentary as crimes of opportunity: "There are three or four days after every election where the clay is still malleable and everyone wants to pound it before it hardens into conventional wisdom. There's this furious battle for everyone to impose their own meaning on the election returns." The less glamorous reality, he says, is that "Bush got more people to the polls and no one thought he could."

Really, Really Bad News For Democrats

The fastest growing victim's group in America is turning away from the party of girly men.

President Bush's rising popularity with Hispanic voters spells trouble for Democrats in future elections.
The president took 44 percent of the Hispanic vote on Election Day, up nine percentage points from 2000. Strategists say if that support continues to grow -- reaching 50 percent or higher -- it could equate to a Republican lock on the White House when coupled with the 62 percent support that the party enjoys among white male voters.

Identity politics can never be a permanent strategy. Sadly, Democrats have forgotten any other way.

You Can Take It With You

Drug trafficking and embezzlement has left Yasir Arafat one of the world's richest men. Sadly for all the buzzards circling around him, his billions are stashed in Swiss bank accounts and he didn't trust anybody with the numbers before losing consciousness, hopefully foreve.

"A huge scramble has been going on to get the codes he holds in his head for various bank accounts he holds in secret," says a senior Palestinian banker.
"It's an uphill struggle, and we may never get the bulk of it," says the official, who declined to be identified out of fear for his safety.
"It's been his key to holding on to power and influence, and some of it may go to the grave with him. If the numbers die with him, then the Swiss bankers and other bankers worldwide will be rubbing their hands in glee," the Palestinian banker says.

At times, his fortune has totalled as much as $5 billion - perhaps more.

Red Versus Blue

Liberals still exist on the margins, in tightly packed clumps.

Cheese Eating Surrender Monkeys

The French wilt before the Ivory Coast onslaught.

No Bleary Eyes For Me

Last night I was well into a good night’s sleep while America was still counting her ballots and wringing her hands over who would serve as our president for the next four years. As is my routine, I turned in at about 9:30 PM. I knew I had to get up early in the morning and so didn’t even bother reading a chapter or two of the book currently sitting on my headboard.
The truth is that I rarely bother to stay up late watching election returns. I’m far more likely to stay up late watching a World Series game than vote tallies. I’ve seen politicians of all stripes come and go and it really has no tangible affect on my life. The worst that Bill Clinton did to me personally was get on my nerves, because as president, he could get himself on the radio, the evening news, or the front page of the newspaper whenever he wanted. But did he have the slightest influence on the way my life went? No, not a bit.
That’s not to say that I don’t care who wins. Certainly Bill Clinton’s failure to seriously secure America against all threats, foreign and domestic, yielded catastrophic consequences, especially for the victims of September 11th and for those soldiers now serving around the world cleaning up after this negligence. But while he was president, he was less consequential to me personally than my own graying hair.
And in truth, by 9:30, I already had the results. The network I had been watching was switching back and forth between the national headquarters of the two campaigns. There was a clearly festive atmosphere at Bush-Cheney headquarters and a palpable gloom hung over the Kerry-Edwards people. They knew what was happening and that’s one of the few occasions when I’ll take any politician’s word for it.
I usually do sleep well on election night regardless of the results. I went to bed at my usual hour in 2000 believing that Al Gore was likely to greet me in the morning as president elect. I read a little bit before dropping off. That Wednesday morning did brighten my mood.
I know what a great country this is. And although I believe that a second term for president George Bush would be better for the country than a Kerry presidency might have been, I also know that this is a great country and would have survived the worst that Kerry could have done. After all, we survived four years of Jimmy Carter during some of the grimmest years of the cold war. History will ultimately judge Carter as the worst president in history, a title he locked down when he declared that the American Revolution was unnecessary and our disputes with England should have been solved by diplomacy.
Yeah, and we’d all be singing “God Save the Queen” before sporting events. Except, that we’d all be watching soccer, rugby an cricket instead of baseball, basketball and football.
About the only thing left for this election is how much richer America’s trial lawyers will get as the Democrats attempt to win in courts what they lost at the ballot box. And once again, that money won’t be coming out of my pocket.
I do feel for the losers. Theresa Heinz will have to get to work finding another ambition politician who will vault her to her dream of becoming First Lady. Her first two efforts didn’t work out. And if she pursues her goals, then John Kerry will have to set about finding another incredibly wealthy heiress to support the lifestyle that he has grown accustomed to with his first two wives.
John Edwards will have to return to his previous vocation of chasing ambulances. But how bad is that? It’s not as though he’ll be standing disheveled on a street corner holding a sign reading, “Will raise health care costs for food,” or anything. Once a parasite, always a parasite.
Even Tom Daschle will have a job in his wife’s lobbying agency. It’s just that she won’t be quite as successful without her husband putting the old fixaroo in for her in the Senate.
I hope that the real winner is civil politics. The real loser is Michael Mooreism. The withering vitriol of the Democratic Party lost. Let’s pray a lesson is learned.

Another Foreign Leader For Kerry

When the Osama Bin Laden tape first emerged Friday, only about 1/3 of it was deemed suitable for dissemination. It was feared that the whole tape might influence the election (translation, it would help George Bush, the press has shown not the slightest reluctance to air lies that favor Kerry).

Well now, the network that broadcast more hours of the Democratic and Republican convention than any of the big three networks, Al Jazeera, has posted the entire transcript on its website.

No doubt about it, Osama Bin Laden's for Kerry. And, considering how easy the Democrats have made it for non-citizens to vote, he just might cast an absentee ballot.

Go To Bed Early

John Fund has the election figured out so you won't have to stay up late watching returns.

This all assumes that votes are counted honestly and the hundreds of thousands of expected fraudulent Democratic votes don't sway things.

Misogynist Homophobic Thugs For Kerry

Eminem picks John Kerry. John Kerry embraces Eminem.

Yago: Last time we talked, in March, you said that it's important to listen to hip-hop because it gives you a sense of what's going on in the street. Have you heard the new Eminem song that's been out?

Kerry: You know, I heard Eminem on "Saturday Night Live" last night. I heard the song that he did. I don't know if that's part of his new [album] or not. I liked it. But that's the only thing that I've heard in the last weeks. I'm on the trail. I'm campaigning every day.

Yep, I bet John Kerry has lots of Eminem CD's in those SUV's that his wife owns.

A Daschle Defeat Bad For Republicans?

Meanwhile, William Stuntz believes the increasingly likely voter-enforced retirement of Tom Daschle could be bad news for Republicans in the long run.

He fears that the Democratic Party, without the moderating influence of Gephardt and Daschle will veer so far to the left that the Congress will become truly unmanagable.

Perhaps, but if Democrats act as Stuntz predicts, we only have to put up with them for two years, before voters toss them into the dustbin of history, along with the Whigs.

55-45

David Hogberg looks at the most competitive senate races around the country and predicts that Republicans will gain 4 seats.

No Balls

Jeff Jacoby shines the light on John Kerry's most glaring character flaw, his total absence of political courage. And, he higlights he most egregious examples.

I think the column was written before Osama Bin Laden's tape was aired Friday. Otherwise, I think that Kerry taking a poll before deciding how to respond to it would have made the list.

At Last, A Covincing Argument For John Kerry

Thanks to Jim Treacher's impeccable logic, I may have to change my mind.
