Microsoft Could Do Better
While I was working in Central America this past spring, I learned that computers and software are hideously expensive. Microsoft software was 2-4 times as expensive there as here. Computers generally cost about twice as much. Why? I have no idea. But those pricing exesses are undoubtedly slowing economic development and motivating Latin American countries to move toward open source operating systems, such as Linux.
Peru is the latest.
