The Plot Thickens

Former New Orleans police superintendent Eddie Compass told his friends among the police force that he was fired by Ray Nagin after a heated confrontation.
As noted here earlier, the "retirement" came on the heals of a report by Fox News' Tony Snow that the New Orleans police department payroll was padded with non-existant officers.

Sorry. The link to the story about the phantom officers is now dead. No explanation.
