The Clintons - For Sale, Again
Strangely enough, this story appears in the New York Times.
Bill Clinton accompanied some fellow named Frank Giustra to Kazakhstan. Frank Giustra returned from this trip with a huge uranium mining contract that made him one of the world's largest uranium miners. Bill Clinton returned with over $130 million in donations to his charitable foundation. And the Kazakh dictator, Nursultan A. Nazarbayev, was given a public endorsement from Bill Clinton for his bid to lead an international organization that monitors elections and democracy (wink, wink).
A spokesman for Mr. Clinton said the former president knew that Mr. Giustra had mining interests in Kazakhstan but was unaware of “any particular efforts” and did nothing to help. Mr. Giustra said he was there as an “observer only” and there was “no discussion” of the deal with Mr. Nazarbayev or Mr. Clinton.
Of course not. Given Clinton's record, who could imagine such a thing? Nope, Bill Clinton would never get involved with anything like that.
