There's a very good reason why Nancy Pelosi adjourned the House without passing a new FISA bill that would have protected the United States from terrorist attacks. She was just doing the bidding of some of the Democrats' most generous contributors.

The recess by House Democrats amounts to a judgment that losing the generous support of trial lawyers, the Democratic Party's most important financial base, is more dangerous than losing the anti-terrorist issue to Republicans.
