Pelosi Lecture GOP On Extremism

Nancy Pelosi had some advice for Republicans in the upcoming election in an interview with Charlie Rose last night on PBS.

"I say to my Republican friends, and I do have many, 'Take back your party, this is the Grand Old Party,'" Pelosi said. "Take it back from extremists who are taking it over the edge, anti-government ideologues who really don't believe in a public space."

Today's Republicans don't believe in government's role in the fundamental functions of government, Pelosi added, making it hard to find common ground. "There's never a chance to find common ground on issues like clean air, clean water, food safety, public safety, public health, medicare, medicaid, social security, because they don't believe in a public role there," she stated.
And, she revives a bald-faced lie from her glory days.
"They think Medicare should wither on the vine, by their own statements." Pelosi continued.
The truth is that, way back in the 90's, Newt Gingrich proposed a new and streamlined health care administration that he predicted would be preferred by Medicare recipients and that the old health care would "wither on the vine."

That Nancy Pelosi has to revive that old lie is more evidence of how utterly bereft of fresh ideas the modern Democratic Party is.
