Bain Capital: The Best Employer In America
Not quite the picture that the Obamatons have been painting. But of course, the Obamatons were awarded four Pinocchios for their attacks on Bain Capital.
We can’t help but notice Mitt Romney’s old firm Bain & Co is the highest rated employer in the country again.
Although Romney hasn’t worked at Bain since 1999, it’s clear that he left a defining impact on the company, which he joined in 1977.
Romney was “an extremely hard worker and an egalitarian boss… [who] inspired intense loyalty, and there are still members of his circle who describe him as a perfect CEO,” according to a profile by New York Mag’s Benjamin Wallace-Wells.
Romney’s greatest moment came in 1991 when he returned to a struggling Bain & Co after six years at spinoff Bain Capital. Within 12 months he brought the company back to protability without layoffs or partner defections, according to The American. The CEO overhauld Bain’s governance structure and increased transparency, letting managers see each other’s salaries.
What’s Bain & Co like today?
Employer rating site Glassdoor gave it far-and-away America’s best score, while CEO Steve Ellis earned a 96% approval rating.
