Resume' Padding? John Edwards' Affair
John Edwards continues to deny that the had an affair with a campaign staffer and expresses umbrage that someone would even look into such things, although he didn't seem to think that it was out of bounds for the press to look into his opponents' lives.
"But, I think every single candidate for president, Republican and Democratic have lives, personal lives, that indicate something about what kind of human being they are. And I think it is a fair evaluation for America to engage in to look at what kind of human beings each of us are, and what kind of president we'd make." John Edwards on 60 Minutes
I still wonder if this a last ditch effort to salvage his candidacy. After all, Bill Clinton twice turned affairs to his advantage - first in 1992 when Gennifer Flowers went public and again when it came out that he was getting blowjobs in the Oval Office.
As resume' enhancers go, few things work as well as affairs. San Francisco mayor Gavin Newsom was exposed boning his best friend's wife and immediately went to alcohol rehab, simulated fellatio with a microphone on television, and emerged with an 80% approval rating.
The MSM has been slow to acknowlege this simmering controversy, possibly suggesting Clinton dirty tricks.
