Obama Stabs Allies In The Back

Obama scrapping missile shield for Czech, Poland - Washington Times

The Obama administration on Thursday said it is scrapping its plans for a missile defense system in Poland and the Czech Republic that was intended to protect against the threat of a nuclear-armed Iran, but said it is doing so in order to deploy a more flexible system that it said is an "enhancement.

Pentagon spokesman Geoff Morrell said in an interview that the new system, which will be announced later Thursday, is based on a determination that the Iranian threat is still limited to short- and medium-range missiles, instead of long-range missiles called intercontinental ballistic missiles, or ICBM's.

Somehow I think that this "enhancement" will make Vladimir Putin happier than our allies. It's the Obama way.

U.S. Ready for North Korean Missile: Thanks To Whom?

U.S. 'ready' for N. Korean missile - Washington Times

If, as often threatened, North Korea fires a missile at Hawaii, the current administration insists that they're ready for it. No thanks to Democrats.

U.S. missile defenses are prepared to try to knock down the last stage of a Taepodong-2 missile that North Korea is expected soon to launch if sensors detect the weapon threatens U.S. territory, the commander of the U.S. Northern Command told The Washington Times.

"The nation has a very, very credible ballistic-missile defense capability. Our ground-based interceptors in Alaska and California, I'm very comfortable, give me a capability that if we really are threatened by a long-range ICBM that I've got high confidence that I could interdict that flight before it caused huge damage to any U.S. territory," said Air Force Gen. Victor E. "Gene" Renuart, Northcom commander.

Say thank you to Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, and George Bush. You can be certain that no Democrats will.

What Does NATO Know That Obama Doesn't?

It's quite a long list actually, but the most prominent current example has to do with the missile defense shield.

NATO leaders meeting in Bucharest were set to endorse a planned U.S. missile shield for Europe on Thursday, a senior U.S. official told reporters.

The final summit statement would "recognize the substantive contribution to the protection of the allies" from the missile defense system to be deployed in the Czech Republic and Poland, the official told reporters.

Meanwhile, Barack Obama promises to cut this "unproven" defense technology.
