Civil Rights Commission Wants Answers From Racist Holder
Here's another story for the New York Times double secret new media editor to bring his bosses up to speed on.
The U.S. Commission on Civil Rights asked Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. on Wednesday to name a Justice Department official to oversee the production of what it called "our overdue information requests" for documents in the dismissal of a civil complaint against members of the New Black Panther Party accused of disrupting a Philadelphia polling place in the November elections.
Commission Chairman Gerald A. Reynolds said in a letter that the department has been "largely non-responsive" to requests for information since questions about the dismissal were first raised in June and had turned over "none of the documents" being sought.
It's a good thing that the Obama Justice Department has been "de-politicized."

Loose Lips Sink Ships Anyone?
I cannot imagine why the Obama Administration would tell the world that we have infiltrated Al Qaeda. Unless it's to prove that they're not really the panty wastes we all think they are. This reminds of Jimmy Carter revealing the super top secret B-2 bomber program to prove to the world that he was actually doing something on behalf of our national defense.

Obama Disproves H. L. Mencken
H.L. Mencken once observed that "Nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public."
Well, Barack Hussein Obama has proven that you can underestimate the American public.
The public is not as dumb as it's made out to be, and Mr. Obama's public option died a bipartisan death yesterday in the Senate Finance Committee. What's left is a package of "reforms" that are mere trite extensions of what we've been doing for decades. That is, piling up mandates on private insurers and then lying that this somehow isn't driving up the cost of health insurance; piling up subsidies for health consumption and then lying that this somehow isn't responsible for runaway health-care spending.
Indeed. In truth, I don't think that the Democrats so much underestimated the American public's intelligence so much as they overestimated their own. I think that they are among the few people in this country who actually believe Obama's snake oil.

Europe Nostalgic For Cowboy Diplomacy
When the French are saying that it's time for Obama to grow a pair.
President Obama wants a unified front against Iran, and to that end he stood together with Nicolas Sarkozy and Gordon Brown in Pittsburgh on Friday morning to reveal the news about Tehran's secret facility to build bomb-grade fuel. But now we hear that the French and British leaders were quietly seething on stage, annoyed by America's handling of the announcement.
Both countries wanted to confront Iran a day earlier at the United Nations. Mr. Obama was, after all, chairing a Security Council session devoted to nonproliferation. The latest evidence of Iran's illegal moves toward acquiring a nuclear weapon was in hand. With the world's leaders gathered in New York, the timing and venue would be a dramatic way to rally international opinion.
President Sarkozy in particular pushed hard. He had been "frustrated" for months about Mr. Obama's reluctance to confront Iran, a senior French government official told us, and saw an opportunity to change momentum. But the Administration told the French that it didn't want to "spoil the image of success" for Mr. Obama's debut at the U.N. and his homily calling for a world without nuclear weapons, according to the Paris daily Le Monde. So the Iran bombshell was pushed back a day to Pittsburgh, where the G-20 were meeting to discuss economic policy.
This takes me back to Jimmy Carter's "Style over Substance" presidency.

Obama Has Not Time For His Afghan War Commander
But he has all the time in the world to lobby for Chicago.
Obama will lead a delegation that includes first lady Michelle Obama, Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood, Education Secretary Arne Duncan, Oprah Winfrey and others.
The International Olympic Committee on Friday will choose the site of the 2016 Summer Games. Also in contention are Rio De Janeiro, Brazil; Tokyo; and Madrid, Spain.
The president’s apparent last-minute decision to make the trip drew immediate criticism, including from some Republicans in Congress who accused him of getting distracted from health care, the economy, Iran and Afghanistan.
If only the Afghan War were so important.

Another Story For The New York Times To Ignore
Well, the New York Times' double secret opinion journalism editor has his first story to ignore.
With the revelation that White House Director of Political Affairs, Patrick Gaspard, has close ties to Bertha Lewis and to ACORN, Matthew Vadum and Erick Erickson appear to be onto something significant. While the Gaspard matter needs further investigation before we form any hard conclusions, it certainly seems to confirm that President Obama’s ties to a whole series of ACORN-controlled organizations are neither minor nor by any means long-past. In fact, making use of what Erickson and Vadum have discovered about Gaspard, we can trace these links still further.
By the way, Director of Political Affairs is the same position that Karl Rove held in the Bush Administration.

America Sucked

Before the savior was elected.
I can recall no other major American speech in which the narcissism of a leader has been quite so pronounced. It might be compared to Gen. Douglas MacArthur’s “I shall return” -- which made it sound like MacArthur intended to reconquer the Philippines single-handedly. But MacArthur, at least, imagined himself as embodying his country, not transcending it. He did not assert that while the Japanese invasion was certainly excessive, America had been guilty of provocations of its own -- and now, in the MacArthur era, things would be finally different.
Twice in his United Nations speech, Obama dares to quote Franklin Roosevelt. I have read quite a bit of Roosevelt’s rhetoric. It is impossible to imagine him, under any circumstances, unfairly criticizing his own country in an international forum in order to make himself look better in comparison. He would have considered such a rhetorical strategy shameful -- as indeed it is.
At the United Nations, Obama set out to denigrate American goodness so he can become our rescuer. The speech had nothing to do with the confident style of Democratic rhetoric found in Roosevelt, Truman and Kennedy. It insulted that tradition. And no one is likely ever to quote the speech -- except to deride it.

For Newspapers - A Bailout And A Leash

So, President Barack Obama is open to another bailout. This time, he wants to bail out newspapers. Declaring newspapers, “absolutely critical to the health of our democracy,” Obama said of the newspaper bailouts now being considered by the Congress, “I’ll be happy to look at them.”
“Journalistic integrity, you know, fact-based reporting, serious investigative reporting, how to retain those ethics in all these different new media and how to make sure that it’s paid for, is really a challenge,” Obama said. “But it’s something that I think is absolutely critical to the health of our democracy.”
Of course the investigative reporting that Obama wishes to see continued is anti-Republican muckraking. And it is that sort of lopsided scrutiny that most newspapers confine themselves to. For example, it was more than a week after the scandal broke on the internet and Fox News before New York Times readers learned that the Democrat-affiliated ACORN was busted by freelance investigators for facilitating underage sex slavery. And because papers like the New York Times and the Washington Post still serve as navigation beacons for the rest of the mainstream news media, few from that swamp took notice either. For example, when asked about the ACORN scandal recently, ABC news anchor Charlie Gibson confessed total ignorance.
Considering how much taxpayer money ACORN receives and how much influence it wields, “serious investigative reporting” would have been called for. But not even a long series of voter registration fraud cases ignited much interest.
But aside from keeping his allies, foot soldiers and guerilla warriors clothed and fed, Barack Obama has another interest in bailing out newspapers. Adding newspapers to the list of government dependents increases his power. Already Obama has two major US automobile manufacturers hanging on his trophy wall. The Obama Administration owns majority shares in both General Motors and Chrysler. They are obligated to do his bidding. The federal government imposed after-the-fact restrictions on financial institutions that accepted TARP funds. When banks that regained their footing tried to repay their loan and regain their freedom, Obama refused to take the money. He didn’t want to yield control.
But the real reason that Obama might want to bail out newspapers probably came to light late last month. Obama Administration officials were part of a conference call with the National Endowment for the Arts. Artist organizations were encouraged to involve themselves in promoting Obama’s political agenda. In particular artists were encouraged to deploy their artistic skills to promote “a new foundation for growth, focusing on core areas of the recovery agenda – health care, energy and environment, safety and security, education, community renewal.”
In the old Soviet Union, the role of art was to glorify the state. I’m beginning to wonder if we really did win the Cold War.
And once again, this story only came to light through the efforts of the new media. The legacy media has been very slow to report on this. The New York Times first (and as of this writing, only) reporting was to reprint an Associated Press story about Obama’s new rules against awarding NEA grants based upon politics. That AP story emerged a full month after the story broke on the Internet.
The federal government is the single largest patron of the arts in this country. Even if the art community were not already sympathetic to leftwing politics, it certainly would have recognized who buttered its bread. Don’t you think that believers in limitless government power would like to hold similar power over newspapers?
It’s not as though most newspapers are not already eager to serve as Obama’s water bearers. They are. And there is no more glaring an example than the New York Times’ servility. But holding a financial leash is a sure way to make sure that they do not stray from Obama’s shining path.
There are probably numerous causes for the newspaper industry’s difficulties, but certainly one problem has to be the legacy media’s painful reluctance to report news that embarrasses this administration or his party.
The New York Times lost nearly $75 million in the first three months of this year. The Washington Post loses more than a dollar for every paper that it delivers. Without a bailout, they might be tempted to revive themselves by doing real reporting.

Barack Obama: Racist
Reportedly, Barack Hussein Obama has asked black New York governor David Paterson not to run for reelection.
National Democratic Party leaders have asked Gov. David Paterson to consider withdrawing from the 2010 governor's race, according to two senior New York Democratic advisers.
Both advisers, who are close to the governor, spoke to The Associated Press on Saturday on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak for Paterson. The sources said it was unclear what Paterson would do in response.
The New York Times, which originally reported the request on its Web site, said that it was President Barack Obama who asked Paterson to withdraw.

You Lie!
Obama is caught in another whopper. Will the mainstream media report? You've got to be kidding.
Barack Obama in April 2007 told a group of supporters: Health Care Reform Requires Tax Hikes — Savings Just a Theory.
"Initially you may need another $90-100 billion each year."
Funny. That sure isn't what he told the American public last week during his speech to Congress.

Kill Granny
Or the terrorists win.
A U.S. president who fails on his signature issue--health care--won't have the strength and public support to deal with new challenges by Islamists. He will be seen at home and abroad as seriously weakened. Yet neither party seems much bothered by this threat. . . .
Legislators on both sides of the aisle should start thinking beyond their narrow self-interest. If Democrats fail to find a health-care compromise they may doom their president's foreign policy, and their own reelection chances. They will certainly be helping the Taliban, by undercutting Obama's ability to craft a policy that could save Afghanistan.

You Lie!
He does.
President Barack Obama, seeking to make a case for health-insurance regulation, told a poignant story to a joint session of Congress last week. An Illinois man getting chemotherapy was dropped from his insurance plan when his insurer discovered an unreported gallstone the patient hadn't known about.
"They delayed his treatment, and he died because of it," the president said in the nationally televised address.
In fact, the man, Otto S. Raddatz, didn't die because the insurance company rescinded his coverage once he became ill, an act known as recission. The efforts of his sister and the office of Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan got Raddatz's policy reinstated within three weeks of his April 2005 rescission and secured a life-extending stem-cell transplant for him. Raddatz died this year, nearly four years after the insurance showdown.
The narrative was right. It's just that the facts were wrong.

Obama scrapping missile shield for Czech, Poland - Washington Times
The Obama administration on Thursday said it is scrapping its plans for a missile defense system in Poland and the Czech Republic that was intended to protect against the threat of a nuclear-armed Iran, but said it is doing so in order to deploy a more flexible system that it said is an "enhancement.
Pentagon spokesman Geoff Morrell said in an interview that the new system, which will be announced later Thursday, is based on a determination that the Iranian threat is still limited to short- and medium-range missiles, instead of long-range missiles called intercontinental ballistic missiles, or ICBM's.
Somehow I think that this "enhancement" will make Vladimir Putin happier than our allies. It's the Obama way.
